Subject: Hello to the List

Hello all,

Michel asked me to join a few weeks back, but as I have been so busy the
last few days it took me some time to remember to do so. I guess that I
should introduce myself to everyone on the list (If I have not met you
before) so here goes:

My name is Chris MacGregor and among other things I design typefaces and
publish Chris MacGregor's Internet Type Foundry Index. I have been involved
with type design for nearly seven years and have designed nearly a
quarter-million typefaces (well, OK, 240,000 of those typefaces are
instances in a two axis Multiple Master faces, other than the two multiple
master faces I have designed about 100 faces.) Still, one should not be
judged by the number of faces they have designed alone.

I am a founding member of TypeRight (www.typeright.org) and have written and
spoken on issues involved with both web and type design most recently at
TypeCon, typo[media] and Publishg Magazine. I hang my professional hat as a
Web Communications Specialist (Kinda like the A-Team of the web department)
at Halliburton. I occasionally have misspelled a word or two so try not to
be offended by errors, we all make them.

I was involved with the initial discussion to get this list started at
TypeCon in October (I believe it was Gary Munch, Michel Bujardet, Don
Synstelien, Laurence Penney and myself?) as a sort of guild/labor support
group. I hope to see the list grow over the next few years and turn into
something very supportive of type designers.

So, here is a big Texas Howdy to the list!

CHris

BTW, I am signing on through my work address as I need to fill up my E-mail
box here and not at home. You can always reach me at Chris@typeindex.com or
Chris@macgregor.net.
